spelling activities

For spelling activities we have done spelling words out of blocks. We used our spelling book to see what to do for our spelling activities. Some of the spelling blocks are small, medium and large. Some people did finish and some didn't finish.

investigating volume

In maths we have been learning to find the volume of objects. We made 3D boxes out of paper. The first one we made out of sheet paper, the second one we made from our grid books. The sheet paper wasn't accurate 1 cm squares so we had to use our grid book to make a rectangular prism. We used blocks to find out the volume. It was meant to fit 100 cm cubes.

Cicadas and tree sap

We went on a nature walk and found tree sap and cicada shells. There are many different natural specimens. We went down to the back paddock and found heaps of different specimens such as cicada shells, sticks, leaves, bark, big trees and sap with webs and also logs on the ground. With the specimens we pressed them into clay and made impressions. We also drew the specimens in our book.

One metre cubes

On Tuesday we started making one metre cubes with newspaper and masking tape.We had to roll up the newspaper tightly and tape it with masking tape so it wouldn't fall apart. But on Wednesday 2 groups did the one metre cubes and the rest made one centimetre cubes out of white, cold, squishy air drying clay.
One group finished their one metre cube, but a few minutes later it went a bit wrong and the other group is nearly done.
